Waking Up To A New Dawn

Given the perversity of the dream — destroying the environment by dropping bombs in order to kill children — it is no surprise how many of us are waking up. The old dreams are dead, turned to nightmares. They provide no comfort, no hope, no escape.

The question is, having awakened from the madness, having smelled the coffee, will we yet lie about in bed? Having turned on and tuned in, will we have the courage to drop out?

We awaken as one who has been in a coma, our limbs so atrophied we scarce remember how to use them. We see consciousness itself as the miracle. But to be able to witness the world as it actually is, stripped of all its illusions, and yet not access our power to change things? That is no miracle, that is torture. Indeed, no matter how awakened you think you may be, to look upon the world as it is without feeling the power to change it will lead to insanity.

We sit in bed imploring others to awaken without giving them any reason to. They sleep the sleep of the morbidly depressed, who seek escape from a world in which they feel they have no control. Do you really think such people will awaken to your arrogant insistence that they need to accept the truth you convey? A truth that not only does not inspire but that does not relate to their personal experiences? They will likely slap you on the head as they would the snooze button on an…
