The West Hates It When China’s Commemoration Of WWII Isn’t All About Them

Acting in a manner only he can, Donald Trump responded to China’s Victory Day commemoration with a social media post. On a day that was supposed to honor war dead and commemorate the struggle for liberation, Trump decided to make it all about him.

China and Russia, between them, lost over fifty million people in World War II. Most of them civilians. Besides the leader of Russia, the leaders of many other countries were in attendance. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi was not present at the celebration, but had been in China the day before for a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a group of nations banded together for mutual political, economic and security reasons.
