The One Thing That Can Distract Me From Genocide
To tell you the truth, it’s hard for me to pay too much attention to the genocide we are abetting in Gaza when we are constantly escalating our proxy war in Ukraine. I feel terrible about not focusing enough on Gaza, but after all it is just genocide. There have been other genocides before and the human race has survived them. Sure, genocide is the worst atrocity ever committed by humans thus far, but blowing up the planet is going to be way worse.
The fact that our government is supporting Israelis in their slaughter of the indigenous people of the land they’ve settled on, the fact that the U.S. government is providing all the weaponry required for them to do so, does point out just how far into darkness our decision-makers are willing to go, though. There really seems to be no red line which the United States will scruple crossing, no depth to which they will not sink. It kind of makes you wonder what other atrocities they might be willing to participate in.
I suppose the fact that then-current Secretary of State Madeline Albright once admitted that sanctions killing a half a million Iraqi children was acceptable shows you the United States had lost any moral compass it might have had decades ago. Does anyone now remember the crimes of which Saddam Hussein was accused of that justified murdering a half a million innocent children…
