The Death Of Culture And The Rise Of Pseudo Culture

If we want people to respect other people’s cultures, we must first ensure that they work to maintain their own culture. Because if people don’t work to maintain the culture they have at home, there soon will be no culture anywhere. We are each of us part of a local culture built of the land on which we live and the people with whom we share it.

The alternative is a mono-culture, where no town or people or country or area is different in any meaningful way from any other. And that mono-culture will not be one that springs naturally from the people but will be more or less imposed upon us from on high. That culture will be a capitalist culture, because those with the most wealth will be the ones determining our values. Those values will in turn determine every aspect of culture, from architecture to music to religion to family structure. That culture will be a corporate culture, one where small farms are paved over with Walmart parking lots and downtowns are either gentrified or torn down to erect Amazon distribution centers.

The 20th Century was a miraculous time in which even the common people had the chance to explore other cultures.
