Solving The World’s Problems By Shortening Your Food Supply Chain
The moment you start shortening your food supply chain, you begin overcoming most of the great evils of the world. I will go so far as to say all of the evils of this world as a challenge to you to prove otherwise. I will list a few ways in which reducing the supply chain will lead to a better world in order to get you started.
-Urban blight and food deserts. Encouraging urban gardening and community farming will incentivize people to make use of empty lots and will supply neighborhoods with fresh, healthy food difficult to find elsewhere.
-Labor exploitation. I can’t imagine any worse job one can have than to work in an animal rendering plant, it surely sounds like hell. Local sourcing will create smaller processing plants owned and operated locally rather than by some global corporation.
-Toxins. Food shipped across country and even further requires them to be treated/sprayed in order to stay fresh longer. Local food gets to tables far more quickly and fresher.
