Playing Games Where Others Make The Rules

Survivor is a reality TV show that demonstrates how greed destroys entire tribes. You start out with two tribes, and each individual is encouraged to lie to and betray even their fellow tribe members in order to get everything for themselves. Being voted off the island is just a symbolic substitute for murdering those who stand between you and all the money. The only possible ending is that one person survives, while the rest die. Those are the rules of the game.

And these are the rules and the ethos which our society wishes to impart to all of us. Because the people in charge of our country live by these rules and they want everyone to accept that this is the game we play, so that we accept being lied to and betrayed so that when all of the money of a society ends up in the hands of one individual or a small group of people, it will seem fair to us.

The game has already been over for most of us, we’re sitting on the sidelines voting for which of the remaining few surviving members will get booted off the island. None of us who weren’t born with immunity idols (i.e. wealth) ever stood a chance. Those who were born to wealth were granted a sackful of immunity idols so they were never going to lose to the likes of us.
