My point is, and I said this in the article, "What we witness now is a mad rush to embrace fascistic tactics by those who do not realize that they will be the ultimate victims of them." However benevolent their reasons may be, they are normalizing censorship, increased power in the hands of a few oligarchs and secretive and unaccountable intelligence agencies. They are making things easy for a DeSantis once he gets into office. People who seek power don't care about identity issues but they're more than willing to use them as an excuse for increasing their own power.
