I Am Done With The Way Things Are Now (And I Believe Society Is Too)
My earliest conceptions of good and bad came from comic books and the Batman TV show. Ideas of right and wrong came earlier, but that was mostly just a matter of doing what my parents told me to do. It was more about obedience and avoiding punishment than anything else.
The comics taught me that there were good people and bad people and that they were always fighting each other. The good people were good for two reasons: they were supported by the authorities and they self-identified as good. The bad people identified as bad and stole jewelry from rich people.
Scary movies gave me a somewhat deeper understanding of good and bad. Monsters were not always intentionally bad and were often forced to play the role of the bad person just because society viewed them as different or threatening. The Frankenstein monster was looking for a friend or a mate, but the world would never permit him to be a part of it. There were similar stories regarding the Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Creature Of The Black Lagoon, King Kong, and many others. They were not necessarily bad, they were just forced into living in the world of man.
I once believed American Indians were bad for no other reason than cowboys were good and they needed someone to fight. As I grew, the judgment between the good and the…
