To hear the words “save the children”
Uttered in foreign tongues?

How does it feel to watch the crowd that used to gather
To listen to you speak
Drift away?
To see the allies you betray
At last catch on to your game?

What is it like to hear
Someone else call the tune
And watch the dance floor fill with
Your former slaves?

And how does it feel
To have the cackling and the stammering of the leaders YOU chose
Fill your ears?
To watch the empty words of your spokespersons
Fall lifeless to the ground?

To watch the doors fall off your planes
And your trains fall off their tracks?
To see one leader who cannot speak
And another one who should never be given a microphone?
