Glimpses Beyond The Matrix

Walk outside the lines and you can catch glimpses of another reality. Find an alternative to the clothes dryer, and you can sometimes see rainbows.

I begin most Saturday mornings hanging my clothes to dry. At the very least I look up at the sky as we once did as children but rarely do as adults. More than a cup of coffee or anything human civilization has been able to create, staring up into a bright blue sky with the sight of the occasional bird soaring high above is the best way to start the day.

Then, instead of driving an SUV down to Planet Fitness, I ride my bike to a park downtown that has workout equipment available free for all. Early on a Saturday morning, I have the place to myself, and I neither have to wait for a piece of equipment nor listen to whatever radio station is deemed most suitable for the masses. Morning dew still clings to the sit-up bench and pull up bar, so I wipe them dry with a towel. Squirrels move about the grass as they gather nuts beneath the trees.
