Finding Yourself In A Society That Wishes To Suppress The Individual

In the future, the winners in the struggle to survive and reproduce will likely be those most able to resist the corrupting influence of the internet. It will be those who have an innate resistance to its pseudo-reality and a love for authenticity. Or else it will be those who have parents or governments willing to protect them from the evils that are permitted to lurk on the world wide web.

On Johnny’s 10th birthday, we give him a tablet and a smart phone and tell him not to look at porn, and then wonder why he grows up unable to relate to real women or create the bonds necessary to raise children.

We have created an environment which makes concentration impossible — where everything from nudity to infantile humor to cute puppy videos is just a click and a momentary lapse of concentration away — and then we diagnose our children with ADD and other psychological conditions that didn’t exist generations ago. We teach them no sense of self-control, nor do we provide them space to practice it. Instead, advertisers encourage them not to wait for anything but indulge their slightest whim NOW. On top of that we feed them diets filled with sugar that make them hyper and then insist they sit in chairs for 6 hours every day.
