Crazy Is The New Normal (A Brief Look Back At The Last 8 Years)

It’s hard for me to be outraged or shocked about anything anymore. Which is weird because shocking and outrageous things are happening every day. But so many crazy things have happened these last 8 years that crazy has become the new normal. Every day there seems to be something new that would have floored me prior to 2016. If I attempted to make a list, I’m sure I’d forget more than I remember. Big, earthshaking events that should stay with me, and yet the accumulation of so many have left me numb to so much.

It all began, I suppose, with Donald Trump announcing he was running for president. Crazy, right? And then him winning. Unbelievable. I didn’t know how that could be topped, but I thought the whole illusion of normalcy would be undone, and the U.S. establishment types would be forced to look at themselves in the mirror and realize how low they had fallen.

But not to be outdone, the Democrats and the intelligence agencies said “Hold my beer!” and started blaming Russia for their failures. For 8 years. 8 years! Not a hint, not a scintilla of self-reflection from anyone in the media, in government, or among those who actually held power. They just doubled down on their crazy, making Trump look almost sane by contrast. Almost.

Seth Rich died in an alleged botched robbery. And I have no idea how or why he died, but it was immediately apparent that the media’s task was to quell any rumors about it. You think, like O.J. Simpson, the Democrats could have…
