Another Political Pig Parable
Once upon a time there was a piggy who ran around warning of a big bad wolf, scaring all the other little piggies half to death. Now, in truth, it was no rumor. There was indeed a wolf on the loose, but the truth was, it was rather a mangy looking beast. Though it was large, it was mostly fat. Though it wasn’t pleasant to look at, it was more laughable than frightening. But it was a wolf nonetheless, and a pig has every right to be concerned by its presence. So the little pigs squealed and gathered together to decide what to do. “We shall build a fortress to protect us from him,” oinked one pig, and the other pigs squealed with delight.
“Yes, we shall build a mighty fortress,” exclaimed another little pig.
“We don’t have time for that now,” cried another. “We’ll have to make do with what we already have.”
The piglet that was anticipating a mighty fortress was crestfallen when the self-appointed leader led them to an old chicken coop. “Here we are,” cried the self-appointed leader, “We shall be safe here. We can beat the big bad wolf if we just stay in here. Just so long as we all stay together as a group. We just need to be united.”
Now the pig who wanted to construct a mighty fortress — let us call him Ralph — was disgruntled, but he was also outvoted. So for the sake of solidarity, Ralph stayed with the others to…
